Design as intellectual property is different
from design in general idea. Design on the Industrial
Property Law is mainly related to design of goods while
design in general idea is more comprehensive and covers
wide field such as posters, visual design (graphic design),
environmental design for life space or environment, goods
design, building design, digital design etc.
Article 2-1 of the Korean Design Law defines design
as "the shape, pattern, or color, or a combination
of these in an article (including part of an article,
hereinafter the same except where Article 12 applied)
which produces an aesthetic impression in the sense
of sight"
Namely, design on the Design Law is related to appearance
of articles that can be object of independent trade.
